Anybody out there have any older bird dogs with arthritis and go through any intra-articular injections?

My 7YO had some intermittent soreness since mid season last year. Took awhile but progressively got worse and I made my rounds with appointments until I got ahold of a specialist. Turns out he has Rocky mtn spotted fever. Almost positive we got it in Wisconsin grouse hunting in Oct last year. We are almost done with the doxy treatment and he's improved some but im told he's got some more joint issues in the front shoulder and carpal on both front legs.

Waiting to hear back on what injections are available so I thought I'd turn this over to the peanut gallery, have you had one? How long did it last?

My cousin used them for his dog and it worked very well

I take a CBD gummy (no THC) once a day and it helps my arthritis more than pounding Motrin every day. For me it took around 2-3 weeks for it to start helping so give it time if you try it with your dog.

I did the cbd route for my dog. I felt like it kinda worked, but tolerance was built up relatively quickly. Then I talked to a vet They recommended novox/carprophen Ended up working better and was cheaper than cbd. It does have a potential for liver kidney damage but with annual blood work it’s easily monitored. My border collie was on it for about 5-6 years lived to 16.

Daily dasuquin chew and a shot of adequin every week has helped to keep our active 10 y/o springer, well, “springy.”

Got my near 13 year old GSP injected monthly Librela...Double TPLO 8 years ago, really bad arthritis. Tried arnica (great stuff), glucosamine, adequine, you name it.

Librela has been amazing. I plan on hunting the old guy this season (in moderation). Went from watching him struggle to get up from laying down to running like he was 8 years old again within a week.
