If you can only carry one. Which one? Left or right? I have gone full circle and use the mess kit cup mostly. IMG_3717.jpeg

I went with a Toaks Ti pot and a small fuel canister and the Mighty Mo fit inside. I think it’s a pretty good combo that’s super light and doesn’t take much space in the pack so my vote is your cup on the right…

I have the cup on the right and have since phased it out of use. I found that I needed to frequently do double boils since the cup on the right doesn't have enough capacity to service 2 people. I occasionally will bring the right cup on trips but mostly just use my 2L boil pot now. Using the Jetboil as your cup is for the win if you're solo

I’ll check that out. Sounds like a good setup!

I used to take take the jetboil, but have changed to a 450 ml cup and small BRS stove. Saved on size and weight. I haven’t looked back. My buddies do the same now too.

Depends on the trip, if it's somewhere I can't have a fire, I'll take the jetboil.
Otherwise I'm taking a small titanium pot and stove

Depends on trip duration.
1-4 days the pocket stove and pot is generally lighter. On trips much longer than that the Jetboil is a lighter system because you can carry less fuel.

I get 12 days with 4 boils per day on 1 and a half 110gm canisters. The pocket stove pot will be at least double the fuel consumption.

I’ve found a huge benefit to a pot with some kind of finned heat transfer. So much more efficient and therefore faster, much better wind resistance and wind doesn’t suck away your heat.

I’ve just about burnt off a canister just trying to get a pot of water boiled for 2 MH dinners using a regular pot and stove with a dome for a burner in some wind.

Petrel pot and MSR pocket Rocket delux have been fantastic for me. Less money than JB and lighter.

I take a pot. If all else fails, and it has. You can just use it over a fire.

If you are looking for a new cook system check out Firemaple. I like their G2 pot with the Green Peak II stove. The canister and stove fit inside the pot for space saving. Stove and pot weigh 9.1 oz. I like the heat exchanger on the pot and they retail for about $65 for the pair. Otherwise I would go with the Jetboil.

Best of luck.

This is what I just bought for this years hunt. Looking forward to pairing it with my msr pocket rocket.

I have both, but usually fall on the pot side but with a homegrown windscreen that covers the bottom of the pot and burner but not the canister.
