Reached an age and mindset where all the years spent aquiring shit suddenly seemed irrelevant , now to get rid of the treasures at a fraction of the cost. Am finding the latter is more difficult.

Ya, I've been there many times over the last 35 years, and then all of a sudden it's like "whoa, I need one of those.....and those, and a couple of those". I thought I was there a few years ago, and then I started carrying camp on my back again and needed a whole bunch of new and different and lighter stuff that wasn't available years ago.

However it is nice to look through an entire Cabela's catalog and not want to buy anything that I just saw.

I will almost guarantee that something will change between now and the hunt. Been there... done that.. many times. Damn GIF will show up and someone will come out with something you "can't live without". I'm trying to see how long I can go without buying something new, but I know that I am going to get a Kifaru Late Season, sooner than later.

Exactly. There is always something I want, whether I need it or not is a different story. Will it ever stop...probably not. To me trying out new gear is fun and interesting. Especially guns, every time I buy one I am looking toward what I will get next.

It would be easier if I never went to Rokslide ever again. I could go back to 80lb chitty packs, 5lb tents, 5lb sleeping bags, and cotton underwear and be happy in my ignorance. Now we buy 2 lb bags and sleep in our clothes under tarps with mice walking over our bivy mesh. My family questions my sanity a little more with every gear "upgrade".

Yah.. I know what you mean! But I still find stuff to upgrade even did it today with a new headlamp and new gaiters. My friends joke about me having a sporting goods store in my basement. Always find ways to save weight but sometimes I just have to do some math and see if it is worth it. Many times I cannot see it worth the price. I understand what you are saying.
