Is it a 10 point, 5 point, 5x5, 4 point with eye guards, or a 4x4?

What part of WV? Preston Co here. We count every point for whitetail, just feels off not counting browtines/eye guards on mule deer.
I've jumped around a bit. Grew up in Hampshire County, then moved to Monongalia County while attending WVU. Work moved me to Nicholas County for a couple years. Now I'm living in Raleigh County. I have a buddy that lives up near you in Reedsville.

Had an ol’ Louisiana southern states/kansas whitetail slayer tell me that if you can hang a ring on it, it’s a point. I like that logic lol.

From Northwestern PA, lived in Colorado a couple years as well as Kansas. A 10 point buck is exactly what it sounds like. Out west it’s whatever the locals call it. I tend to add the term basket rack to describe the fact that I shot a young buck. We call a young 4 point, (2 on each side, 2x2) a young forky. Even a 6 point, (3x3) has its own designation here. A good old Pennsylvania 6. Meaning a young buck at the end of the season you decided to drop.

This is just from around the ANF though, can’t speak on out east or south.
