I’m heading to downtown Indianapolis later this month. Looking for recommendations on places to stay. Any areas I should stay away from?

Any good places to eat? Things to do?

Fogo de Chao, there lunch prices are much cheaper but it's pretty much the same. Or just get the market table for $15, it's the fanciest salad bar I've ever seen.

Che Chori for some bomb empanadas and other argentine food. It was a walk up/drive thru only though the last I knew.

16 Bit - really fun arcade that serves beer. We had a blast there.

I live in the western suburbs but work downtown. Livery, modita, the eagle, and tinker street are some of my favorite places to eat in the downtown area.

Slippery Noodle is the oldest bar in Indiana is an Indiana institution. I recommend it.

Tax Man in CityWay is an awesome brewery with GREAT food.

If you venture slightly north of downtown my absolute favorite place in the city is 20 tap. Amazing beer selection and great bar food. Fat dans is right next door and another solid place.

The Alexander, Omni, and JW Marriot are all good hotels with convenient locations downtown.

The museums are pretty cool, the zoo is something to do as well. All walking distance of the JW.

Will second the shrimp cocktail at St. Elmos. If you can’t get in there, you can go to Harry & Izzys and get the same thing - same owners, same sauce…..

Prime 47 is our favorite steakhouse though.

It will be crowded - race next weekend and also Pacers-Knicks eastern conference finals will have downtown packed.

If you like craft beer, Sun King is the stand by, but you should check out St. Josephs, Centerpoint, Guggen Haus, to name a few.

Downtown is pretty safe, everything is very walkable.
