Idaho south hills cow hunt

The wife n kid both got a cow tag for the early August hunt in 55-2. I've driven plenty of the roads throughout work etc.. but I've never hunted any of this area. I've struck out a few times now trying to find them any elk. Had one spot my boy n I could hear a couple cows talking up in the timber but they never did come out and no way we could've got to them and probably wouldn't have had a good clear shot either. Was wondering if anyone that is familiar with this area would be willing to pm me with any pointers or areas or types of places that I should be looking or that I'm maybe over looking. Would love to get them both an elk this year as it's both their first year and only my 3rd year so I'm still low on experience as well!! Thanks ahead for any help!
