Posted this over in the archery section as well but figured there'll be more eye balls in General Discussion. They are taking comments until May 6th on several different issues, lighted nocks being one of them. Let them know if you agree or disagree, this affects R and NR archers in Idaho so let your voice be heard.

Awesome, thanks for posting. Always drives me crazy to have to switch out my lighted nocks. They only give you an advantage regarding knowing when to follow-up and have a better idea where your elk was hit. Ridiculous that they are outlawed.

highly misunderstood by many. it doesn't make you see the animal any better in the dark. it does help you read the hit, find the arrow and read the arrow for more info to determine when to track.

I completely understand it doesn't help you see the animal any better in the dark, but thank you for pointing out the obvious for me.

There just isn't a reason for it, it's been fine for this long without it.

What's next, the Blue Tooth GPS nocks? A nock that can communicate with your site through Blue Tooth? Laser guided arrows? Where do we draw the line?

Should we allow range finding sites too? How much help do people need? At what point is it enough?

If they are so great, stay in your own state and use them 😂

In my opinion when dealing with new technology you gotta ask the question does this affect the overall harvest statistics, and your state can deal with it as they see fit (Idaho has gone the route of limited technology, which i like) . Now does having a lighted nock increase the harvest statistics? It might increase them a little bit but that would be because guys are knowing where they hit the animal and what is the best decision as far as when to blood trail. But overall I believe you would have less people shooting multiple animals and only recovering one, this would ultimately mean more animals on the mountain.

I don't think we need them and sent my email too. Shouldn't be shooting that late anyway. As for telling where the shot hit by a glowing nock, that doesn't mean anything. The nocks don't always line up with the POI.

If you use a scope on your rifle or a sight on your bow then you're a hypocrite. The petition actually makes it very clear that bluetooth nocks or gps enabled chips are not going to fly, simply for lighted nocks. Idaho can stay in the stone ages while the rest of the world joins the 21st century. Just like all the wounded deer and elk that happen every year from the muzzeloading regulations. At some point the change is coming.

Email sent. Never owned a lighted nock but someone seeing their impact a little better and possibly a few less stray broadhead tipped arrows laying in the woods can't be a bad thing. Certainly doesn't trigger any "get off my lawn" type curmudgeon response to advocate they remain banned.

Pretty funny to me that right after I read this commission item I listened to a Bowjunky podcast with Travis Turner where he essentially said if he didn’t have a sponsor that requires him to use them he wouldn’t do to poor quality nocks , putting weight on the wrong end of an arrow, lack of durability and leading to potential poor shooting form.

i agree they are not the best nock out there. they also lower FOC and change your arrow flex. that said, i like to have one in my quiver for dusk shots. the rest of the time i'm using higher quality nocks.

i haven't found them to be distracting to my follow though but i can see how someone can get distracted.

i used to think it was a gimmick that was only used for whitetail hunts on TV. turns out it has use outside of television.
