I know I'm probably asking for a lot here, but I'm trying to get ahead of things for rifle season. On the property that I hunt, I have about a 3/4 mile walk to my stand. This makes hiking in with heavy warm boots a real chore. What I have been doing is hiking in with a heavy boot and every day normal sock. Then as soon as I get there I change my socks to a merino base layer and will add a heavy wool sock once my feet start to cool off.
I would normally carry extra socks with me anyway, but the changing noise is what I'm trying to avoid. If you hike at all, you know walking in heavy boots sucks. So I'm curious if anyone has suggestions or is in a similar situation and what it is that you do.
Thanks
