As with most of us, my day dreams, real dreams, and every other thought are consumed with the possibilities of September.

Preparations have been in full bore for a month and counting. Hiking with heavy packs, hitting the gym, reading maps/refreshing land nav skills, getting my bulging to sound like an elk and not a stuck pig, and of course shooting shooting shooting.

I hate waiting, but I love dreaming.

Just remember to take your reeds out before bed, that’s a choking hazard

If you discover that the squeaky hinge on the pantry door can be made to sound like an elk you will eventually get thrown out of the house.

Don't try on different elk scents in the house either! It might smell like nirvana to you but not so much to her. Great way to end up sleeping outside for a few days until you figure it out! ;)

I live in rural western Colorado, In my early bowhunting years, just before the start of the hunt, I couldn’t look at a horse or cow without thinking about shot placement. There was a guy who had an elk farm about a half mile from my house, in the fall they would start to bugle like crazy and that made it hard to sleep.

Sitting over here in northeastern California. We have pretty nice elk just a few miles away from the house but they're still tucked away so I'm not haunted by their bugling hahaha. That said I definitely relate to what you're saying about shot placement lot of horses and cows in my area on the way to work and I'm doing the exact same thing hahaha
