Hunter v Tactical v Duplex

I have a tactical frame and Im getting the lite frame.

I love my tactical frame, they made it in 28" for me which isn't listed on their website but they used to make them for people (maybe they still do). Its been a great frame, Ive hauled meat with just a cargo net and used it for training with the cargo net/sandbag and even used it to haul a bunch of firewood as just a frame and it worked great for that. It won't handle a moose quarter as well as my barneys frame but it does ok. That frame really seems to make weight dissapear.

The downside to it is that it isn't that light. That dosent always matter too much but when trying to keep the pack light for a sheep hunt or something, it is a bit heavy, I think my tactical frame and fulcrum/lid is close to 8lbs maybe a bit more, I guess if I was going to take a weight penalty, a quality pack is an ok place to do it but when I throw my argali bag/lid on a new light frame, its going to be well under 6lbs which dosent seem like a lot but it all adds up.

I have a 26” Bikini with composite stays, 26” Hunter with aluminum stays and a 22” Hunter with carbon arrow stays.
The 26” Hunter will haul 120# without problem; it can probably do more but my knees can’t.
I added a small kydex sheet to the lumbar pad on the 26” bikini frame and found it ever so slightly behind the hunter frame for hauling heavy loads.

So I received my Tactical Frame and attached my DT1. I think it will be a great combo when packing heavy for sure. I've loaded it up for a 7 day hunt. Without water, binos and sidearm, it's weighing in at 53# with the frame and pack included. The frame/bag weighed a shade over 7# empty. Although there are a few things I will do to drop a few pounds off that before September.

I like the 4 loops on each side of the frame. I robbed my Bikini frame of a couple buckles and added 1 on each side of the frame, lower 1/3 which allows for another attachment point from pack to frame and cinches lower portion of side pockets. This in addition to the attachments from frame to bag which lined up almost perfectly near the bottom. Not bad for a bag that's over 6 or 7 years old and mating up to a newer frame. I'm gonna order some hd velcro strips to use for 1 more attachment point from frame to bag as well.

I also bought the lash kit which would have been so much better while hauling that Gila head out last September. It was all I could do to keep the antlers from dragging the ground so this will be a better set up for sure.

I've attached both small belt pockets from the bikini frame, to the lid and will order 2 medium belt pockets, creating a few more CI's of space. This being said, I still have a bit more space inside the bag for my jacket, and a few other clothing extras aka socks n skivys as well as another 2 light weight shirts that doubles as a base layer. I don't know about you guys, but for me, I have no problem carrying a few extras because I hate stinking so bad I can't stand myself. I will change socks, undies and shirts at least twice after my initial hike in.

I just got the 24” tactical frame and the gen 2 22 Mag and love it. Just shy of 6#... I didn’t like the gap between the stays on the other frames. I think that would be a bloody mess packing meat on the meat shelf.

Been happy enough with my 24” composite stay hunter that I haven’t ventured from it. Didn’t care for the bikini.

Iv gotten to play with the new frames, but will be packing meat again this year with my hunter.
