My limbs on my Hoyt splintered. Brought to my bow shop and had new limbs put on under warranty. Got home and put on scale, drawing 68lbs. My old limbs drew 70lbs. So started checking. My tiller was off 1/4 inch (adjusted that's ok now). Checked brace height good 6 3/4. Check axle to axle one side is 30 1/4 and the other side is 30 3/8. Went to Hoyt web site and checked specs said 30 3/16. Set my paper up and shot through it perfect bullet hole. My question is, is it normal to have that much difference from side to side on the axle length and is there a +/- tolerance on the axle to axle measurement. The other question is should I twist each cable the same amount to get my 2lbs back. Cam timing looked good with the naked eye, as I don't have a draw board. I have a 2014 Carbon Spyder 30 #3 cam. Thank you for any help and advice.

Your cams should lean at brace, so ATA will vary a bit from side to side. If you want to gain back two pounds, go ahead and add a couple of twists to each cable.

So the 2 measurements I got are close enough to the Hoyt spec of 30 3/16. Don't mess with it?

Adding twists to both cables will increase draw weight, increase draw length a little, and decrease ATA. Without a draw board it will be very hard to fine tune the harness to get an exact draw length measurement, so I would recommend putting twists into both cables first. Shoot a dozen arrows to settle in the harness and then measure the draw weight. After the harness has settled, then get a feel for the draw length using whatever tuning method your prefer (bare shaft, walk-back, french, etc) and then put twists into the string to get the draw length where you want it. Keep in mind that adjustments to the cables have a bigger impact on draw weight, draw length, and ATA than adjustments to the string.

Alright, built a draw board and couldn't believe my eyes. My top cam is retarded at least an 1/8 of an inch. My draw length is an 1" short and my QAD rest is beyond maxed. I double checked my draw mods (3c) 29", they are good. I pulled on my d loop to check all this, not sure if it matters where you pull. I figured that makes the most since. Didn't want to spend the money right now, but decided I didn't have much of a choice unless I wanted to bring my bow back to the pro shop (if that's what you want to call it. Maybe butcher shop, since they butchered my bow up!) so I ordered a bow press. Should be here by the end of the week. Any tips for tuning a Hoyt would be much appreciated.

Thanks
