Howa mini 6.5 grendel?

The howa mini 6.5 grendel has caught my eye. Anyone hunting with one? I'm looking for a lightweight rifle but also like the idea of something a little different

I see that a couple companies have aftermarket hinged floorplates. And a couple stock options too. Which really intrigues me.

I have one, a “Youth” model with shorter stock and #1 light barrel. It has become my go to rifle even though I bought it for kids to use. It is at gunsmith getting barrel threaded and plan on replacing factory bottom metal with on of the options. May replace stock as well while at it. Last year I killed a 250# plus hog at 30 yards with Federal 90gr TN, a 8 point at 90 yards and a coyote at 200 yards both Hornady Black, all dropped in tracks. The mags are the only real negative to me. Had it drop once and I saw it happen but definitely got my attention so will replace.

I’d suggest going to the Bolt Action thread 65grendel forum. Tons of useful info on the Howa, CZ and Ruger. Brownells has the Howa 20” heavy barreled action on sale. That’s what I would do if starting over.

I got a barreled action from Brownells, 20” HB, right when they came out. Sent it off to be threaded and cerakoted. Put it in a MDT LSS with a Magpul CTR buttstock. Did that so my young grands could shoot a deer+ capable rifle with an adjustable LOP. It is lethal within its limits and the Howa shoots very well. Recoils about like a 243, but throws a bit more bullet.
