How to clean the muzzle crown

I took off my muzzle brake to clean and noticed carbon caking on the crown. What are your methods of cleaning the crown without damaging it? Thank you!

I don't, so long as it is not causing an issue. Some CLR on a rag and a little elbow grease worked the one time I did it for fun.
