How often do you clean your surppressor? I have a Thunder Beast Ultra 7 with about 250 rounds through it. Thank you in advance . Jason

I clean my rimfire suppressors every 500 rounds. If I don’t, they drop gunk down into the chamber and jam things up.

I haven’t had any reason to clean my center fire suppressors yet, some of which have thousands of rounds through them.

Same here.

They "self clean" and actually sound slightly better when they are dirty. I cleaned one of mine after 2500ish rounds just to see and I was shocked at how much came out. I will actually clean all mine every 1000ish rounds going forward. No, really down side other than a little elbow grease.

Thunderbeast recommends cleaning when the can gains a couple ounces if that makes sense.

I clean my suppressors fairly regularly. I’ve had a few times on hunts when carbon fell Down in into the chamber and made loading a round hard to do.

I think "when to clean" is highly dependent on your shooting style and what sort of rifle you have them on. I used my Omega 300 for almost three years with slow burning magnum powders and ended up with 5oz of carbon buildup in it. Silencer Co didn't even believe me when I told them how much it weighed. I only used it for hunting and load development for the first several years I had it and never really let the can get very hot where it could blow out the crud. I started participating in PRS matches last year and have been repeatedly soaking my bafflestack in CLR and then blasting it out during a match. I am still slowly working that carbon crud out of there about 0.2oz at a time.

I don’t clean my suppressor or my rifle.

I was sceptical about the self cleaning comments by suppressor companies.
I weighed my Ultra 7 last week. It’s 0.3 oz heavier than when I bought it many years ago.
It’s mostly used on my hunting rifles, but I have put it on my AR’s in the past before I bought another suppressor.
Unknown total round count but I know it’s had over 300 rounds from my 7wsm, 250ish in 6.5/06. Not sure of .223 but easily double those before I got my next suppressor.

How do you clean them?

I soak mine (Tbac Ultra 7) in CLR usually for 24 hours, rinse with hot water and repeat as needed.

The "cleanest" way I've found is to plug the exit with a foam ear plug, place the suppressor in a large glass mason jar (or similar container) and fill the suppressor to the brim. It will "puke" out a bunch of crap and run over the top so it will make a mess if you don't have it in a larger container of some kind.

(If you have an aluminum can, you may not want to use CLR as its supposedly harsh on it.)

Simple green and an ultrasonic cleaner. I’ve heard the CLR soak method also but have no experience. With my HUXWRX, using the ultrasonic cleaner, you’ll still have a bunch of black snot fly out of the muzzle the first few shots afterwards.
