I am using a jetboil this year and was wondering how many boils you guys are usually getting out of a 100g canister?

Depends on how cold it is or how much water I try and boil at a time. I can get 5-6 days on a 100g typically. More than that I take an extra can. I find it to be true to what they post on their site. 10-12 liters of water on a 100g can.

I would think altitude would be the biggest factor. I use a homemade alcohol stove, so I'm no help.

How do those alcohol stoves work at higher altitude? I've heard HEAT is the best fuel to use. I have a Jetboil Zip, but I only need hot/warm water to rehydrate food, don't drink coffee or anything else were I'd need hot water.

Thanks for the help guys. Trying to figure out how many to bring this year. I will be going in 7-10 days so is sounds like I will probably need to take 2 with me for 2 boils per day.

I use mine above treeline (11,400+) with no issues. HEET in the yellow container is the hottest and cleanest burning I have found. Like yourself, boiling water is all I need, and the alcohol stove fits that bill. It's light, and no moving parts or seals to fail.

About 20, 16 ounce boils at 6000'. I did exactly that a couple years back to test the capacity.

I think south cox did a capacity test in eastmans a couple years ago also.
