How heavy is too heavy for you?

I have and hunt with several different rifles for Whitetails. Ranging from a Remington Model Seven in 260 REM (the lightest) to a Browning HCS in 300 WM (the heaviest). I have never weighed any of my set ups. Some carry better than others and some are more accurate. I generally try to determine what my longest shot may be that day and what type hunting I will be doing (stand or moving) before picking my rifle.

I have a 5 3/4# all in M700 Ti in .270 Win for when ultra light is necessary (or I just feel like it) but I’ve found 8-9# is a good all around weight. I did my first sheep hunt in the Yukon almost 25 years ago in the Yukon with an 11# setup and that was a 60 mile march which put me on the ultralight kick. I generally settle on a good centered compromise.

I've got a hammer that weighs 9.5ish ready to go, but it needs every ounce. 280gr going 2900 is more fun than I like from that thing. My 6.5 PRC is 8# with brake and it's a pussycat. I'd like it to lose a pound for that one.
LGS has a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 30-06 that I love to heft every time I go in, maybe sub-5#. Consignment, with the $1700 scratched out and $1450 under it. Looks like it might've had a box through it max. Too much of a good thing.
