Anyone have experience with the newer CX bullets from Hornady? When I can find some, gonna do some testing in my 7 PRC… hoping to test this bullet out for spring bear.

I’ve shot TTSX for years and assume they will be similar… but was curious if there any first hand experience out there.

I’m curious about them too. I have a bunch of 180s and 190s I’m going to test in my 300 WM but I haven’t killed anything with them yet

Got the Shooting Bot email today and order 4 boxes... will report back here once I've had a chance to shoot these.

Not as big as the last boar but descent sized nonetheless. Approx 80 yards slight quartering to me. Neck shot dropped in his tracks and did the Curly shuffle for awhile. I checked and there was no exit. My guess is the bullet is in the off side shoulder. No I didn't cut and dig for the bullet.

I have no complaints with the CX's performance on this hog.

My 7mm-08 (when I had it) hated them but if they perform as good or better than the GMX they replaced like Hornady claims, I’d be willing to try them in other guns

Any update on "other guns". I have been working on adding some copper bullets into my extensive collection of hornady and nosler lead bullets for my rifles. Not that those dont work great but i love having options and tinkering.

I have 150gr barnes tsx and ttsx for my .308 and 85s for .243. Only could find the hornady cx in 130s for my 270. Im excited into load them and try them. Im a little worried the 130s will be too long to shoot well out of my tikka .270 but we will see.

@CJ19 my tikka 270 shoots 130gr ttsx’s just fine, and Im only at 1000’ elevation or so. Cx BC is very similar, so Id be surprised if theres an issue with barrel twist in your tikka.

139s in my 280 AI shot fairly well (about 3/4 MOA at 3150) but the Hammer load I had for it just shot too well to make the change

I have heard excellent things about hammers including their customer service as being the best around. I am just not going to spring for the cost at this time since I have the barnes and hornady already in house. I probably just should have started with the hammers. Buy once, cry once.

I have been having good luck with the Barnes TTSX and was looking at pick up a few boxes of the Hornady CX's to compare.

The 190 factory CX shoot well in my 300 prc xbolt SR. 3/4 moa or so. I'm excited to see how they do on elk.

I'm also probably using them for a couple antelope this year, but I've been second guessing using the prc wondering if it's too much.

still doing load development on the 160gr CX in 7 PRC.

65.5gr of H4831sc with ADG brass and WLRM primers yielded a group of 0.772", SD of 5, ES of 12 and average velocity of 2974fps.

Im going to keep going on the ladder as i had no pressure signs at 66.0gr, will hit the range Tuesday and report back.

I can say the Hornady factory 160 cx 7prc ammo sucks in my rifle as well as friends. The ELDX shoot lights out as well as the ELDM but both suck, in my humble opinion for elk. It’s on me as I rolled the dice not being a re loader. Federal terminal ascents can’t get here fast enough.
I am getting .6” groups with ELDX and 2” groups with flyers on the cx. My barrel only has about 25 rounds down it though.

Taken two blacktailed deer this season with a 6.5CM and a 120gr CX. One buck and one doe, both hit right behind the shoulder. The buck ran ten yards and fell, the doe fell on the spot. Both shots passed clean through. In my Tikka, these bullets shoot exceptionally well.

I've hunted with Barnes LRXs and TTSXs too, and really can't tell the difference when it comes to performance on deer.

ya i couldnt get the 160gr CX to shoot good in my custom 7PRC. Switched to the Barnes 168gr LRX and immediately got 0.5-0.8 MOA groups all through my ladder test. I found a good load at 3000fps so will load more there and check consistency.

My 6.5cm shoots 3/4 MOA with factory 147 ELDM. Tried the factory 120 CX and groups went to 2”. Bullets were moving in all directions from POA.

My 6.5prc also shoots 3/4 MOA with factory 147 ELDM. The factory 130 CX shot MOA but did experience a 1” POI shift.

Loaded some 280AI 160 GR CX and harvested a antelope doe yesterday. The exit was about 1.5-2 inch in diameter and very little blood shot. Was a 450 yard shot which thought was a miss as could see the impact behind her on the exit. Hit the the joint of the front shoulder on the exit. She did a back flip after about 5 seconds and then knew was a good hit. Love the bullet as super accurate and less blood shot but not the typical response to a hit one would see. Always been an Accubond guy so kinda confused on the future with this bullet. Will attach photos of exit and inside of shoulder on exit side. Also, attached photo of brothers exit with 270wsm 140 Accubond on antelope doe at same location on front shoulder out of the same herd.
