Like most, I started mine during the covid lockdowns. Prior to that I owned 1 sandbag. When my gym shut down they let members “rent” equipment for $1/ item per week, so I got a barbell and some plates from them to help me thru lockdown. That was the catalyst to get me going. Next thing I know I was loading down the truck with horse stall mats and waiting for alerts from rogue that inventory was back in stock….

It’s a tight space that I have to share with woodworking equipment, other assorted toys and my wife’s car…. I didn’t have the space for a dedicated rack; and b/c of the way the flooring was poured I couldn’t use one of those collapsible racks either. An “Indy” rack is all I could manage, but after months of waiting for restock I decided to build my own from 4x4 lumber. I’m really proud of how they turned out! Zero fasteners we’re used, just wood joinery and glue! And it holds 300lbs just fine (maybe even more but that’s all the plates I have).

I managed to get a climbing rope installed (attached to the main roof center beam) with about 12’ of height.

There is a diy pull-up bar, a diy box, diy wall-ball target at 10’, and lots of diy hangers and storage. Overall I’m very happy with the set up. The only thing I’m really missing is a good place to do handstand push-ups.

- rogue Ohio barbell (45#)
- Rogue plates (various)
- rogue bench
- rogue landmine
- 44# kettle bell
- 20# wall ball
- 20# slam ball
- dumbbell pairs (65/50/35/20#)
- climbing rope
- Indy Rack
- pull-up bar
- rings
- weight vest
- Sandbags (80/50/30#)
- plyo box (30/24/20”)

Power rack from REP fitness
Barbell and plates
Adjustable dumbbells
Couple kettle bells

The main exercises are squats, lunges, deadlifts, dumbbell press, rows, pull ups, and several lightweight shoulder exercises I don’t know the name of. Also do a lot of abs, running, and hiking. Sometimes burpees and kettle bells stuff to mix it up but those seem to make the joints ache more as I get older.

I’m looking for a new mat. I have taped together old yoga mats and have done MtnTgh’s kettlebell workouts interchange with yoga sessions 5/6 days a week for the past few years. The mats are beginning to shred with pieces getting into my eyes.

One member referenced using horse stall mats, anyone else have some recommendations?

I've got an old shop with a concrete floor and a gas heater hung up in the corner. The guy I bought the house from used it as a sheep barn, so you can imagine the condition it was in. We put a lot of work into it. Rubber mats on the floors. Had a buddy weld up a rig for squats, pull ups, toes to bar, wall balls, etc..... got a few rowers, a few echo bikes, a bunch of barbells, bumper plates, dumbells, kettlebells, and more. Now we've got friends that come work out with us every morning at 6:00. They helped contribute to the purchase of all the equipment in exchange for a place to workout. My gym is in my basement with a 8ft ceiling. I have an 92 inch tall squat rack with a pull up bar. Added some safety spotter arms so I can bench heavy by myself safely. I got a cheap cable system that attaches to the pull up bar to do triceps and such.
Also a bench and a pair of adjustable dumbbells as well as a stationary bike for cardio.

I just upgraded from a REP fitness rack that I’ve had for the last 4 years to a used Rogue SML-2 I found on Craigslist. The guy threw in a couple other goodies like the dip bars and a small cable/pulley with a few attachments.
My other equipment:
Water rower
25 and 35# KB (need a heavier one)
Bumper plates and oly bar from REP
random selection of dumbbells
75# sandbag
and a 65qt yeti cooler that I use for my bench, box step ups, etc.

A echo or assault bike is in my near future

Mines a play pen, gym, and reloading room. Tore the carpet out of the basement and ordered 3/4 inch rubber rolls from Menards. Was super easy to install. Built the platform for under $100 bucks and have about 530lbs in plates along with other dumbbells.

Oh and 2nd string mounts go down here too haha.
