Third trip to the range in two weeks with the grandson, 16 in Oct. I think he is ready. This is at 100 yards. at 200 elevation was spot on, windage was a little left, maybe due to 12 MPH cross wind. I sight my guns in, zero at 100 yards, not 1.5" high. It's just what I have always done.Resized_20230802_133042.jpeg

Where/ when are you hunting? I just got back from hunting hogs for the first time down in Louisiana. Had a blast even tho it was hot. Had some friends shoot at them with rifles (and miss) while I was putting them down with a bow. My observation was once they started shooting the hogs were gone. Once I started shooting the only hogs that left had an arrow hole in them. The rest were more concerned with eating at the feeder.

Have you considered suppressors? I'm definitely new to hunting hogs but I think you could really stack em going the quiter route.

Just smoked some shoulder and it was great!

Best of luck, should be a great hunt!

We hunt in February when it's much cooler and the grass and brush has died down so we can see them. Toss someone in the back of the truck with an AR and drive until we spot some then it game on. Rattlesnakes are also usually not out of hibernation yet in February so one less thing to worry about recovery. Take that sirloin (football) from the rear hindquarter and use it for pulled pork, turns out PDG.

I'll definitely be heading back early next year. We had a trip to Alaska fall thru and needed something to fill the freezer in a pinch. Talk about going from one end of the map to the other! We shot some redfish too and had a real good time we were just sweating out beer faster than we could drink it.

ARs sound like a useful tool on those critters! Do you use thermals?

Man I love pulled pork. I thought the wild pork had a sweeter flavor to it. A little bit tougher but not in a bad way. We threw some grind in with elk burger and wow that was tasty too. Thinking of making some kind of andoulli or cajun sausage as well.

I put up a post in general discussion forum about our hunt. We hunted just this past Wednesday, the 9th. We hunted Monterey county Ca. UGH. The grandson, Carter put the 168 gn sleeping pill on the money at 225 yards. down goes hog, down goes hog....Resized_20230809_142457.jpeg

No we just hunt during daylight hours. For around camp I have a Sniper Hog Light that does a good job out to about 150 or so but we usually don't blast from camp unless there's a smaller kiddo that's maybe not mature enough to handle an AR in the truck bed.

Is that at the final, final?
It sure is. I got to sit there and reminisce with Nessen himself, while he downed a vodka and OJ..somethings never change.

Excellent! In ref to zeroing. I seem to dance a click or so either way depending on the day. I don't get bothered by it anymore. I really put it out of my head when I'm dumping hogs and having a blast in the canyons. If fact, I laugh at the stuff we get ourselves wrapped round the axle about on the forums. LOL
