I'm running an HPG Highlander on a Stone Glacier Krux frame. So far I love the setup... I put my daypack/hunting gear in the Highlander and camp in a dry bag and cinch between the frame and bag. I could easily do 10-14 days with this setup.

So far I've been real impressed with the Highlander... Anyone out there used their gear? Durability and longevity is my biggest question. It appears well made but experience is the true determination.... Anyone?

I can't remember if I asked you or not, but how much does the Highlander weigh? Just got done looking at it again.

1 lb. 10. oz with the horizontal straps... Also looked at the Tarahumara but it is even too small for my tastes... I can get everything in there, but it's tight! Still a nice little pack and the shoulder harness is sweet!

Ok, just found that written in my plethora of chicken scratch notes on my desk. So I guess I already asked that question. Time to get those heavy metals out of my system, this memory fatigue is killing me.:(

I looked at the Tarahumara as well, but ya that thing is tiny. My pants pockets can hold more stuff than that thing. I still think my skeletonized daypack can come in around that weight and work even better for me on the frame. Who knows........after all this skeletonizing and downsizing and testing........I may end up back with something larger and heavier like the Kifaru EMR II on a Duplex frame??????

My time with the Mystery Ranch Metcalf this fall proved that big bags aren't for me... It's a great pack and it'll get a lot of work during summer pack trips with the family but I love the ability to be able to undo a couple of straps, dump camp, and be hunting with my daypack or bivy hunt out of it with my camp on. I can't think of a more versatile system that isn't overly bulky.

Once I get the system dialed in, I will be replacing the metal G hooks with para cord or something lighter and trimming off the unused PAL loops from the sides... I would suspect that will knock off 1/2 a lb or so... Not sure but those G hooks are heavy!

I've got the kit bag and the mountain serape and both are excellent pieces of gear. I believe all of their pack bags will fit on kifaru frames.

I have their pack bag, serape and tarahumara - quality is great and I will stay a customer for a long time. Don't underestimate the tarahumara either... The comfort and versatility is amazing. I use mine as a day hunt/hike bag that doubles as an additional pocket or compression pocket on my main pack.

The Ute and Umlindi are essentially pack bags with straps... Might be an interesting option with the Nomad...
