Stabbing suckers with a gig it's kinda an old ozarks tradition big long pole 12-16 ft in length with large gigs (similar to a frog gig only a lot bigger) mostly still homemade in forges around the area with the aid of lights you go up and down the river looking for suckers and attempt to stab them while they swim and the boat moves it's a blast the colder it gets the better the gigging gets
Just north of Hurley my dad is from Galena we go there pretty often to see my grandma
