I have some hearing loss in my ears. I think I would benefit from getting hearing aids but didn't know how they would work if I am rifle hunting ect. Any input would be appreciated.

I started wearing them in early March. My doctor told me to NOT wear them while shooting - ANY SHOOTING.
I'm going to save what hearing I have and follow his advice and not wear them when gun hunting.

Meateater just had a podcast on this very topic last week. I would suggest listening to it. You can have custom aids made that fit your ears and work as hearing protection and aids at the same time.

Quality hearing aids shut down with loud noises - drop a plate, little baby-girl squeals loud enough to shatter crystal, gun goes off, some idiot pops a paper bag or balloon next to yer head, etc. the aids shut down as a safety feature to protect your hearing. Disregard this if you don't know if they have this safety feature - and find out if you do. The hearing aids I've had over the years all have this feature.

Being deaf, I spook the hell out of critters while bow hunting and haven't shot a lot of bucks in my 44, going on 45 seasons chasing deer. But hunting is still fun.
