Hat Suggestions ?

I'm looking for a decent brimmed hat for this fall. I've been online looking at some and I'm thinking of maybe a muticam Seattle Sombrero. Wish it came in a dark brown . Any great hats in that basic style for under a hundred dollars that you can point me to ?

I need one of those too but I want a brim all around to keep the sun , rain , and snow off my neck and ears and to keep my silhouette more even as I turn my head. That's an old trick to keep you from getting busted as easily. A billed ball cap completely changes your outline as you turn your head which makes it easier for game to pick you out if your head is on a swivel.

I just bought the sombrero as a summer hat. Too hot for Savannah. The brim is about 3" wide though. I like the old lbt ghillie hat a lot but the one size fits all is a little small and the brim is only about 1.5".

I have one of these, like it pretty well, not water proof but vents well and for 9 dollars hard to beat.

I need waterproof and it's going to be used in Montana during rifle. The Sombrero with a merino beanie under it sounds about right. I'm just not thrilled with milticam or the light tan and brown model. If it was all brown it would be in a truck on its way now. Looking for something like the sombrero in a browm.

Spray paint? Fabric dye? Light to darker brown should be do able.

I went to....hard swallow here....REI and looked at the Sombrero and it won't work. Rear brim is too long and will hit the pack. Might just rock my old oilcloth Walmart special again.

I've got a Marmot boonie type hat that's gortex lined, 3" brim, and comes in a dark green/brown. Think I found it at REI a couple of years ago. Will try to post a pic when I get home tomorrow.

I got two FL beanies and two C4E beanies. I put them on under my hat when I need warmth or the hat is getting on my nerves but they don't keep the elements off you or shade the eyes. A good 2.75" -3" brimmed hat keeps the rain and sun at bay and shades the eyes for comfort and helps hide them from the animals.

Might be overthinking it. At least when raining your probably gonna have a good on.

I'm thinking of Fedora or outback style in a lightweight waterproof hat. I was looking at some Stetson wool felt styles last night but the felt will give up in a steady rain I think and be heavier than I wanted. Looking hard at a Stetson Tangiers hat. I need to find an Olympia Rain hat to look at I think.

i like the jones style listed above or one of these. the jones is supposed to be waterproof but it never is. they leak around the seam where the brim joins the hat.
in a pinch i put a plastic hat cover over this crusher. but it does sweat inside when you put the plastic over it.

the best part of a crusher type it you can still get a hood up on a rain suit if the weather gets gnarly.

i picked up one of these in blaze to try out in warm rifle seasons. a blaze plastic hat cover for cowboy hats will make it water proof.
