Looking to go the custom route for my rifle if I don't go Tikka. Anyone have any experience with these 2 companies? Or another builder that won't break the bank.

APR is in my backyard. They have a great reputation around here. I don't own one of their rifles but have shot one. Never heard of any complaints.

APR has great customer service. I did however have less than desirable results with them (my build took 2 years and ultimately did not get what I ordered as they could not find someone to dip the stock, so I got a shit paint job instead). I’m hoping they have gotten over the “growing pains” as I would like to try them again on a future build. What was really neat is they invited me in for a “behind the scenes” tour while I was in Texas for work a few years back…super nice guys, I’m just bummed my first custom build didn’t go like I thought it would.

As for the rifle itself; I had my FFL turn around and sell it as soon as it cleared..so I cannot speak to the accuracy or quality but it looked decent (aside from the shit paint job 😒)

I have two rifles built by Alamo Precision, a 223 and a 7mm rem mag. Both built on M700 actions and Krieger barrels. Both are extremely accurate and very well built. I have been to their shop a couple of times and all of them are good guys. When you call with questions, they will spend time with you on the phone and are very helpful and explain the details well. When I shoot my 7mm rem mag barrel out, I will be getting APR to install a new barrel on it.

I have a 300 prc on the APR action. It's built very well. However , I wouldn't do the APR action next time. Nothing wrong with it except the blade ejector is just in the way for putting the longer PRC mag box inside. I still can load to 3.6 coal tho at that's fine for 215s, I just wish I knew that beforehand and I would've sprung for a defiance, kelbly, bat etc. But they have been great to work with for me.

APR uses Defiance for their house actions now.

I have three APR rifles and they are all great. Very accurate, zero complaints. I did have an issue with the bottom metal on one of them, but they were great about it, and shipped me out a new piece quickly. Sorry no experience with Hart.

That's good to hear!
That said my buddy has a .300prc with an extended Wyatts box on the older TL action and he has no issues. He shoots long Hammer bullets too. I have 2 short actions on the TL too, they work great. I like the CRF.

I love my second APR, first one not so much. There was nothing wrong accuracy wise, it was the stock action combination and my desire to get the scope as low as possible. The Defiance Tenacity bolt handle hit the ocular or rode it depending on the rings used. I cut my losses and moved it. The Altitude with the Anti action didn't give me any issues, although it is close.

Dallas Lane will be build my next rifle.

That sounds more like a scope issue to me. If Alamo was having a widespread issue with their action and stock choices in their packages guns, they'd do something about it. They sell truckloads of those.

Bob Hart is a good dude! I dont own one of his rifles , but at least 5 of my buddies do. I killed a nice whitetail in Kansas with my buddys .30HART at 497 yards. They are sweet shooters and great ergonomics.

Yea not really trying to break the bank I understand I'll probably have to buy a piece or 2 here and there or save up n go all in I preferably don't want to go over 3500 or is that being too cheap

I’ve had Tumbleweed Customs in Round Rock, Tx build me several. I also get parts here and there as I find good deals. Mark Pharr is a world class shooter and builds super accurate rifles and a fair price.

I think Bob Green is now retired. Great smith, he did a few for me.
