Hanging Euro Mount on Gorilla Hooks

I wouldn’t. It would suck to find out it doesn’t work and end up with a broken tine or two.

No.
But a screw hook into a stud I would. I use screw hooks to hang euros on a slab of black walnut.

Nope.

Build a big wood plate that can hit a wall stud even if it isn't in the center. Then hand the head on the wood plate.

1/4 inch lag screw into a stud at a downward angle. Gorilla anchors do their job really well. But they’re not enough to risk hanging an elk euro.

No, pictures and artwork lay flat against the wall. An elk rack will have weight out from the wall creating added torque to any hanger you use. I started using Grakksaw hangers a few years ago and love them. So easy to use and really hold Euro mounts well.

That requires two lags in the stud. Why bother. One is all you need and no $50 bracket needed.

The OP mentioned putting his rack above a stairwell. If you can hit a stud I agree a single lag can work, if he wants to center it on the wall then that may not work. As others have mentioned, you can use a wood plaque to span the stud bays or you can use a bracket with sheetrock fasteners. I have also had a hard time adjusting racks into the positioning I want with a single fastener, the brackets I mentioned allow for adjustment of angle. On deer that doesn’t matter as much, on an elk Euro it can.

The angle of the skull/antlers when you use just a regular hook is very unnatural and not very eye pleasing.
That Grakksaw mount above seems to do the same thing, and the mount itself is unsightly.

If you want to do it right, and have it look good, I’d suggest the Skull Hooker.

I have some elk euros hung on those hooks in my house. They work fine. That said, I prefer to find a stud and mount an eye hook.

No find a stud for sure. The bulls in my garage I just use a metal J hook you can buy at the hardware store for $3 and fastened to a stud. No way they’re falling

If you use something like a skull hooker, no need to find a stud.
Just use 1/4” butterfly anchors and put the mount not only exactly where you want, but have it at a much more appealing to the eye angle.

Butterfly anchors, Skull Hooker combo in any location and a natural, eye catching angle for the win!

I'd go with a Simpson or Headlok structural screw into a stud. Real easy to screw in and much stronger than lag bolts.

Skull Hookers I would trust- meant the original question on sheet rock anchors.
Oh, I know..
1/4” toggles hold around 125+ pounds each.
Sheet rock isn’t going to just blow out.

Just drill your holes slowly as to not damage the paper and it’s bomber.

I’m 215 and I guarantee I could hang from a skull hooker using toggles and drywall.
