Handguns 95% effective against bears

I think these discussions are interesting and help to solve the number one issue of any tactical discussion; THE BODY CAN’T GO WHERE THE BRAIN HAS NEVER BEEN.
There may be some bias in recommending spray from the parks department; regardless it’s pretty damn effective. My own experience is it works on bears that are much more then curious. So to are pistols. In my experience I was armed with either a rifle or pistol was prepared to shoot had spray not been effective.
My experience with flat out charges (2) since 1959 guns are the way to go.
If this summer is anything like the last 20 I’ll be within 50 yards of grizzly about 100 times. I never make assumptions with bears. Just like my 20 years in SWAT I expect to be forced to use deadly force but if I can take action to prevent it, I’ll take that option.
I really don’t care what you carry, i always carry spray a whistle and either my revolver or a rifle. Depends on where I’m fishing. I believe it’s pretty easy to over think it. I hope you carry something. Keep your head on a swivel, keep a clean camp, if you come face to face with a bear, move off line if you can. You’ll probably be fine. If forced to act press the attack.
