Much as I'd love to add a proper frame pack to my gear closet at the moment, what I really need to replace is the backpack I've been using for archery elk hunting (usually out of treestands) in Colorado. It's typically a early-ish season guided hunt, so I'm not toting a ton of stuff around. Just need to carry binoculars, rangefinder, flashlight, knife, bear spray and a spot to stash layers for the morning hunts and rain gear for the evening ones.

I figure for such a light duty application, a lot of things will do the trick, just curious to see what y'all have had good experience with. Been using a last-minute Bass Pro branded internal frame bag that I bought right before my first time bowhunting. It hasn't been terrible, but it's quite heavy and bulky for how little usable storage there is, and it is showing its age early.

The camelback packs are very good, look at used military for savings. BFM, Motherload and HAWG are all good day packs. HAWG is the smallest of those three.
