We recently had to make the tough decision to rehome our 3 year old bird dog.

I’m no way ready to take on a new pup anytime soon, but wanted to due my new diligence in finding a reputable Breeder and waiting for the right litter.

Any recommendations on GWP or WPG breeders out West would be greatly appreciated.

How far west are you looking? Misty Klug at Muddy Paws Wires in Maxwell, Nebraska does a great job. Got my last pup from her, getting another from her soon. I can give you more detailed feedback if needed.

Bone Point Kennels in Oregon seems to put out some good wirehairs, but I'm just looking at pedigrees and test results and haven't talked to them directly.

I'll probably come off as the ass here. But those 3 breeds are one in the same from someone who doesn't "know" the German breeds. Whatever you issue with your other dog your going to have a high likelihood of running into the same issues.

Your right to a certain extent, but I’d like to stay on topic here please. There more to the story that doesn’t need to be shared publicly. DD are excellent huntings dogs, no questions asked. Fur sharp and blood tracking no longer interest me.

More than happy to respond over DM. A response on here will more than likely derail the whole purpose of my thread.
You should have left the fact that you had to rehome a dog out of it then…honestly, you probably should just get a golden retriever. All the german breeds are high strung and have a ton of drive. The fact that you just rehomed one and are already thinking about another dog is a joke.

Wow, aren’t you an ass hole. Clearly you have the brains of a lab, since you can’t comprehend the post and easily get derailed.

Why comment on a thread if you can’t add anything off value?? You clearly don’t have any context of the situation and look like a fool assuming so. That’s not the only German breed I own. If you knew anything about a reputable breeder, then you would know finding the right litter & breeder could be a 1-3 year process.

Please go ahead and reframe from posting on my thread if you don’t have anything to contribute.

You open yourself up for everyone's opinion on the matter by posting the thread. You not liking it may mean there is some truth to it.

Needless to say, I wouldn't give you a reccomendation until I understand what was the issue with the last dog. Hopefully you share that with the perspective breeders.

I think finding the right people is harder than finding the right dogs.

Good point. I should have altered my original post as I was looking for insight, not opinions. Clearly that opens a can of worms for some folks. As stated in my previous post, more than willing to discuss the situation in detail over DM . Didn’t feel like writing that out here publicly would be beneficial for anyone and would attract more opinions from people who have little to no knowledge about the actually breeds.

I’ve been very happy with my wirehaired pointing griffon from Lisa at glacier kennels. My griff looks good and hunts even better. She’s been healthy.
