I about crapped in my pants when I went onto my Kentucky profile and found I got drawn for a second season cow elk firearm tag.
I live in Southwest Indiana so it will be the closet elk hunt ever for me.
Anyone with any intel on where to hunt sound off. I will be headed that way several times before the season scouting.
Yeeha!!!

Congrats on your tag! It shouldn't be too tough to take down a cow. Don't over think it sir, you've elk hunted before! You'll do great!

Hey man hate to burst your bubble...but I think you accidentally got my tag. Haha I’m in Indiana too and eventually will get that tag and hunt elk a few hours away. Congrats and good luck to ya man. I’ll hit you up for intel when I draw mine in 2050.

People actually draw these??!!? I thought it was just a yearly donation the the KY elk herd. Congrats from a fellow Hoosier.

Hello guys, I'm new here. Congrats to those who got drawn for elk tags this year. I'm from Connecticut and was also lucky enough to draw a bull elk rifle tag 2nd week. I was hoping to get some help on unit and or regulated area selection. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Cnichols I spoke to Hurley Combs of Lost Mountain Outfitters who offers fully guided hunts or you pay a consultant fee and he provides you with on scene intel and other information to help DIY hunters. That’s what I did. He has answered all my questions by email in a timely manner.
I live about five hours away from the elk units so I plan to go over for a week in July to put boots on the ground.
After that I’ll go for two or three day camping trips scouting and goofing off

Netman, thank you for the info. I had an extensive phone call with Gary from grace elk outfitters and he was more than helpful as well. Sounds like we will be doing same type of hunt, congratulations on the tag and good luck.

I would suggest getting on a voucher property. They limit the number of hunters on each property. I hunted the blue diamond coal mine back in 2016 and arrowed a nice 5 point on the second weekend of hunting. Good luck

CNichols - I drew the 2nd season bull tag too. Still deciding if I’m going DIY or guided.
