Who’s into good sipping tequilas? I know nothing about them other than a Cadillac margarita, but would like to hear about some go-to bottles for sipping, not mixing.

I recently was gifted 2 really nice bottles; Don Julios 1942, and Herradura Legend. Both are incredible, complex, and super smooth. I really like the vanilla type flavor in both of them. I prefer both with 2 small ice cubes and pour a few fingers just like I would a whiskey. That’s the extent of my experience with good tequila.

Casamigos reposado is a fantastic sipper. I prefer it to the anejo.
Teramana anejo is also pretty good, but i'll take the Casa every time.
Tres Generacions reposado is another regular on my shelf.

My favorite by far is Avion Reserva 44. I also really like Don Julio 70th Anniversary and Qui Platinum Extra Anejo.

I haven't compared all of the expensive Tequilas...but the best I've had was this
Clase Azul

Best reasonable one was a locally made Baja Ca Anejo that I looked and looked for when we got back from our fishing trip a month ago....nowhere to be found.

I think the Costco stuff is pretty darn good for the price.

I haven't found a super preference for any particular brand or bottle, but I have found that I prefer Reposado tequila over a blanco or Anejo. This has been general for me, there are exceptions. But if i'm trying something I haven't had before I'll usually see if they offer a reposado.

Got a nice little list going....keep em coming. A lot of these are a lot more affordable than those expensive bottles I was given. I was afraid I was about to develop another expensive habit!

Good or bad I have developed a taste for 1800 Silver. According to the tequila people in the know it is suppose to be a descent one.

I agree on the casamigos reposado, but I like the anejo also. I'll have to try more of the ones mentioned here.

Good friend is really into finding the best tequilas. His favorite is El Tesoro de Don Felipe (the reposado). I've had some of it and have to agree it's good stuff!
