Good 3D type setup

New to 3D shooting. I currently hunt with a Prime Rize with a 5 pin fixed Hogg it Sight. I'm planning on building a bow with a single pin for a backup and 3D shoots. What would you guys recommend for a base on ATA etc for a new one? I currently have a hoyt Nitrum 30 as a backup but it's a pretty small bow. Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks

For me I wouldn't shoot anything shorter than 34" ATA or more for 3D. A longer bow is more stable than a shorter one. That being said I'm 6'5 with a 31.5" - 32" draw so mine needs to be big to begin with. I shot an Elite Energy 35 for a while that I really liked but the draw length on it was a bit short for me. Elite, Mathews and Hoyt all make good target specific bows so get your hands on some at a shop and see which one you like the best.

If you are a Prime fan, go with the STX 36. Also take a look at the Mathews Halon X Comp and Halon X. 36-38" is my preferred ATA for 3D/Field archery with a 28.5" draw.

If you are buying a specific 3D bow that will be a backup I would go with something close to what you are shooting now with the ATA. Thus, something in that 34 range. I don't think its all bad to have the same bow as a backup and then have specialized target gear and accessories. However, if want to build something up I think would be fine with the Hoyt and spend the money on the sight, lens, stabilizers etc. It is all a matter of how serious you want to get.

Thanks guys, I guess if I got another Rize or Centergy that would be the easiest transition. Although the Hoyt may serve as a decent bow with good accessories. Not looking to get too fancy but it's always nice putting arrows where you want them in a competition.

That's what I shoot (Elite energy 35).
