I picked one up from Luke moffat last year it is really nice I have only used it about 10 times work great for me and my 14 son we had a lot of wind and about 6" snow last year it held up pretty good. I have only the outer shell so can't speak for the nest. If you want to talk to someone who has used it extensively pm Luke. Becca and him have used it a lot

Will it be just you or will there be others in the tent? Personally, I love the SL5 for so much more room and just a moderate increase in cost and weight.

It will most likely be just me and my gear. At the most there would be 2 of us in it.

I have an SL-5 that I bought just for me. I bought it used and the nest reeks. The previous owner never took it out of the stuff sack so all of the off-gassing seems trapped in the fabric. If you get one, you'll definitely want to let it air out.

I have the SL3 and used it quite a bit in 2013. It's not a bad shelter and has held up well so far in pretty gusty winds and rain. I haven't hunted in the snow with it so I can't speak for how well it holds up in that weather.
When solo I use it with fly and a Borah bug bivy. When out with a friend he will carry the nest to split the weight. To save even more weight I purchased a pole jack from bearpaw wilderness to use with one of my trekking poles instead of the pole that comes with it. If you know that there will be trees to hold up the top of your tent even better for more room inside. It is very roomy when solo for you and your gear. With two people it's roomy for the both of you but not gear.
Here are a couple pics

I most likely will not be using in the snow. But it's had to say what the weather will do in Colorado during archery season. I really am thinking about trying one. My other option I was looking at was the wolf Creek 2 tent they have.

Love my SL3. I only use the the outer wall and use it during archery elk for myself and maybe some of the other guys gear. It is really roomy for one guy and his gear. Two limbs can be lashed together for a pole or it can be suspended with cord from a tree. It is pretty darn lite for the amount of room you get.

I had thought about just finding a stick and using that for the center pole. Or it say is you can tie it to a tree above it. How is the condensation in it?

I used the SL5 with perimeter netting as my primary backpacking shelter this year. I really like the shelter. It is just superlight for the space when used floorless. I got condensation sometimes, but it was never a big problem.

The weight difference between the SL-3 and SL-5 when just using the fly sheet and leaving the center pole (use trekking poles) and nest at home between the SL-3 and Sl-5 is only 4 or 5 oz for approx $50 more and 50% more space. Seems the SL-5 is a no brainer for me even when going solo. No need to by two separate shelters for goign with friends or going solo to save just 5 oz IMO.

I agree Justin...I have an embarassing amount of shelters, but the SL-5 gets used 60% of the time. The other 40% of the time spent afield is split up between 5 or 6 other shelters.
