I am looking to pick up one of these units possibly. Most GPS units I have used black out in heavy timber. These are supposed to have great antennas. Can anybody confirm or deny and maybe add some more details on this GPS.

I cannot tell you from personal experience as I haven't been out west yet.....But I can tell you that from my research it is one of the most used and liked GPS by hunters...This was confirmed by Garmin when I talked to them.

I have the 62CSX and the 62S. Both are great units and pick up the satellites very well. I have much more time on the csx but I have yet go have any trouble with the S.

Excellent. Thanks guys. REI will have them on sale starting tomorrow for $249.00 That being the GPSMAP 62cst

The REI deal isn't bad at all but consider that you are paying for the cst model which has a camera (mediocre at best) and I believe the "t" represents some generic topo maps that you may or may not actually need if you are planning to use other maps. So, you might find a better deal on just a 62s which is what I went with. Just something to think about.

There should be some sales coming as the 64s is coming to market. I paid something like 179 for mine. Sorry I can't give an accurate field report. I purchased mine based on good feedback here from folks who had real world experience. The comments on reception, ease of use and the upside to having buttons sealed the deal for me.

Great unit. I bought the 62s to replace an older Magellan and have been using it for the last few years. Gets great reception in the trees.
