Wife says I can’t hunt without it this year.

For $160 more I can have the 67I and replace my touch screen gps from 2011 that drives me crazy.

Looking for user input on both and if the 67i is a usable unit to supplement a phone. Also curious on the ease of communication with the 67i vs mini.

I just got rid of my gps as I never use it, only phone. Bring a power bank to recharge phone. I have the mini and it works great. You can download Garmin Earthmate and send texts right from your phone rather than the mini.

This is what I do with Mini OG.

I downloaded GPS data years ago and use ONx. Can also use Garmin mapping if you want and their texting app.

I also upgraded to newer Apple for satellite texting.

For camp, the Starlink is bomb.

I have an oldish iPhone, and do use onX when I can.

I guess I have always carried a gps for backup when it’s too cold to keep my iPhone lasting a day.

Do you using your phones for an emergency device trust it?

The SOS and texting can be done on the Mini. Creating a text is a pain, like old school flip phones…

So, I create basic presets to send to my wife:

I am safe.
I am camping here.
Doing good.
Bull down!
Please wash my socks and underwear.

@Lawnboi

Where can you get a 67i (with InReach) for $160 more than a Mini?

On topic: For my old eyes, I need more screen real estate so a 67i is what I'm going with. Also, I tried the Mini (1st gen) but had probs with BT and my phone.

I like the mini, it’s small and does its job well.

I have maps saved on onX. I use the presents most often. But can free text and will just Bluetooth to the phone for easier typing.

I love my mini. I like the quick check on the mini and then using the app on my phone to send longer texts/check maps

I bought the 66i on a discount a couple years ago for the price of a mini, but don’t really use it for a whole lot more than what the mini can do. Like others have done, I downloaded the garmin app to my iphone and run the app for messaging, weather and maps when out of service. Otherwise, onx is my go to for tracking and pins bc it is more hunter focused and easier to input data. It’s also nice to have piece of mind when in the backcountry hunting solo. Especially for my wife.
