GAP Bushy LRHS 4.5-18

I ended up with a Maven RS 1.2. It’s OK. I don’t love it. I mostly like the design of the reticle but the low end is still too fine for my eyes and the floating dot is too small even at the high end. The illumination is worthless.

All this back-and-forth could be solved so easily if nightforce would just make a decent FFP reticle that’s usable on the low end. Or any number of manufacturers could do it if they’d just remove head from rectum.
Preferences vary.

I really like the LRHS reticle and the DOD, but I slightly prefer the RS1.2 reticle. I love the floating dot, the symmetric 5 mrad spacing from center to thick posts, the tapered post ends, and I'm perfectly happy with the thickness of the posts. It's a very usable reticle at low magnification, for me.

Other than the reticle, I prefer the feature set of the LRHS.

Yep, it’s all subjective. For my eyes, the maven reticle just could’ve been a wee bit even thicker. For me, it’s not usable until about 4X. And I can barely see that dot at all powers.

Of course, if they made it any thicker, I’m sure some would then also complain it’s too big.

Resurrect an old thread but I’m in the same boat.
I’m down to these three options. I almost placed my order for the lrhs2 yesterday…. 1k is still a lot for me. I wanted to ask if you had any different opinions/advice since last November. Thanks

Have you looked into the SWFA 3-9? Lot of scope for $600 and in stock currently. It’s replaced the RS1.2 as my favorite hunting scope. Zero stop is easy now with multiple people making shim kits. Reticle is excellent at all powers. About 6 oz lighter than all these options.

I haven’t considered the 3-9 because the lack of parallax adjustment. I have thought about the 3-15 gen2, sure wish the windage turret was smaller.
I know if I had these all lined up and was able to try them this would be a much easier process. Trying to avoid buying and selling.

Two years ago I’d have bought a leupold and not thought twice about it. 🙄

Fair enough, if you want parallax adjustment then that does limit things a bit.

FWIW, I’ve seen the Gen 2 SWFA 3-15 and used it briefly at the winter S2H course. The size of turrets is greatly exaggerated. One reviewer here found them to be 0.2” taller than the Trijicon Tenmile. Add another 0.5” if you want to add the dust cover. I think it’s because most scope bodies get larger at the turrets but the SWFA doesn’t, making the turrets look comically tall.

I also wonder if you could buy these new low-profile turrets and then have the ultimate SWFA 3-15? I think the turret design is the same as the 3-9, though haven’t confirmed that myself or seen anyone else do so.

Good information, thanks. I wasn’t aware of those low profile turrets. I’ll report back if I give that a shot on a 3-15.
