OK yes this is a backcountry play outside forum etc and we all agree that being outside or in the gym or range is a lot funner than video games.

Anyways I work on the road a lot and spend a lot of weekends away from home. When the gym and bow shooting is over I'll admit I'm a gaming nerd . I love shooting virtual guns and ammo!

I had a Asus "entry level gaming" laptop I bought a few years ago but the mother board fried on it! So I'm without a laptop!

The wife gave me the go ahead to use $1500'ish of the tax return to buy a really decent laptop.

Thinking of an Asus or an Alienware with a, 17“ screen. How's MSI? I'd get a console but the laptop seems to be more hotel friendly.

I'm sure there's a few guys out there doing heavy video editing that know a thing or two about computers.

Thanks boys

Look at Doghouse Systems and the Razer Blade series from Razer. Other than those 2 Alienware is probably your best bet.

My coworker just picked up a Lenovo Yoga, new model, that had been returned to Best Buy. It would be criminal of me to tell you how little he paid for the thing. Don't forget to check those sections when you're out and about. Random crazy deals happen with electronics all the time.

MSI is a great Laptop they are viewed as one of the top gaming laptop companies out there. I bought an Asus many years ago and I will be damned if I didn't have all kinds of graphic card issues on that thing I baby'd it for 6 year before it finally took a crap. I don't game but do some development sometimes which is why I picked it up since then I switched to MAC. But id stay away from Asus..... MSI your going to get what you pay for.

FWIW my younger brother is an IT guy and his IT buddies go to him for hardware questions (spec guy) . He has a MSI and pointed us to an MSI for our oldest son this past Christmas for his gaming laptop gift .

I'll continue the MSI line, I did a bunch of research before buying one for my son. Only downside any really has with them is their customer service sucks but thankfully I haven't needed it yet.

I'll join the MSI parade. I bought one while I was in grad school even though I'm not a gamer. It was just able to burn through heavy stats programs like SIAR better than other laptops. I've beat the crap out of my MSI and it's been bulletproof.

I’ve got a thinkpad T470 I use for work, and pretty much live in the adobe suite. It’s the best windows machine I’ve ever had by a long shot. Every thing else I have is a Mac.
