Looking for opinions on if I should go tall, short or no gaiters for archery season elk hunting in southern Colorado?

I'd take some tall and you can decide daily whether to wear them or not or keep them in your day pack. If there's any moisture you'll obviously appreciate having them and even if there isn't it can keep you from getting wet from dew/frost in the morning and keep scree/junk out depending on the terrain you're in. I pretty much take my crocodiles along on all hunting trips to they are at least available.

I have been in that general area and I wear my Outdoor Research Crocodile (tall) gaiters every day. I was slow to come around to wearing them but I won't leave camp without them these days. I tore both of my original pair on sharp sticks (no fault of the gaiters, just my clumsiness) and Outdoor Research covered them under warranty and sent me a replacement pair ASAP before an upcoming trip. That's outstanding customer service in my book. I really like the gaiters. Not only do they keep out rain, dirt & debris, but I feel they keep out wind/drafts and help keep my legs/feet warmer.

I'd buy a tall pair and bring them with just in case you want them! I have a pair of outdoor research gaiters... Love them!

In archery season, never. Spent a lot of years stomping around that country. Gaiters would make me too hot and inevitably just ride around in the pack as dead weight.
