Been messing with both a bit doing load development with scope of course. The 320 universal at 100 is 2-3 inches but the rod is 1-2 inches. Realistically is one better than the other for Colorado elk ?

I would go with the one that shoots best out of your set up. I've tried the Fury 320s with BH209 and they shoot okay out of my CVA Accura V2/MRX. For elk I prefer a solid copper bullet for increased penetration, Thor 300 grs (Lightning, Universal fit).

I think you’re referring to the Hornady 340 gr Bore Driver ELDX? I’m not following your statements about inches.

But, I agree with @ElkArcher918, no, those are both soft cup/core bullets and would likely perform similarly on an elk.

I too prefer tougher mono bullets (or much heavier lead bullets) for elk.

So you're saying Thor 300s?

I've tried the Fury's, the Thors, and the No Excuses 420gr and 460gr in my guns. All of them shot maybe 4-5" at 100, best I could get. Then tried the 340gr ELDX last year and they shot great. So that's what my daughter used on her cow moose. I realize they are soft, but one through the lungs worked amazingly well. I can't imagine any bull that they wouldn't have worked just as well on. But when my daughters are ML hunting they aren't even taking 100 yard shots. So shorter double lung shots are the norm.

Not a Muzzy bullet but I shot a Bull moose a few years ago Wirth the 200gr ELDX out of my 300 and it worked great. Have also killed several deer with them.

Also I talked to Fury today and they recommend using close to max loads when using the universal bullet
