From 589 yds to 21

Found what I thought would be a good spot to sit for the evening. Few hours in, saw these 3 up the mountain, 589 yds away. Watched them for a bit and saw them come down the hill and out of sight. Was thinking super cool, some bears are around. Then they reappear in the opening I was watching. Wow, guess I called that, cool. Then they continue my way toward the creek in the bottom, to drink I assumed. Nope, cross the creek and right below me, 70 yds. I figured she was going to follow the bottom to my right back up another hill. Nope, she turns and comes straight toward me. Wind at my face and loud creek so she had no idea I was there. At 21 yds I figured that was close enough so I stood up and made some noise. She immediately stood on her hinds (missed the pic) and saw me standing there, probably wondering WTF? She scurried down and sent the kids up a tree (51 yds). She wandered off quickly eventually dragging the littles along. Pretty crazy experience!

Man, she kept doing that look back thing and I was hoping for one to appear. Unfortunately never happened.

Yea that's wild looking. Neither cub even close to the color of their mother.

That’s awesome, cool encounter for sure, and it’s bizarre when a critter makes a beeline straight to you from way off like it was intentional… never know what a hunt has in store
