French Tuning BH

Switched to solids for this year and am getting things dialed in before the rut. When my field points are shooting bullet holes and are french tuned, my BHs are off on a walk back and vice versa. My thought is that I'll keep field points tuned until week before the hunt, then do a french tune on the BHs are readjust sight. Does this seem reasonable or is my thought process wrong?

Paper tuning gets you close but sometimes you need to tune further with fixed blades. Move your rest in small increments 1/32 at a time to bring your Broadhead group into your field points. For example broadheads impacting lower than field points bring rest up 1/32 and reshoot groups. Your blades will react to the adjustment way more drastically than the field points thus bringing the 2 groups together. No sense in having to move sight housing to shoot blades vs field points.

If I move rest to tune BHs it is also shifting FPs

Yes but very slightly, it effects your broadheads much more drastically which is why you will be able to bring your groups together by Broadhead tuning this way. Say your hitting 3 inches low at 30yards with broadheads, you bump your rest up a touch and now field points moved half inch up meanwhile broadheads shifted 4 inches up. Then after they are both grouping in the same spot you move your sight housing accordingly.

When I had moved the rest a 1/16" and they were still gapping about 4" from one another at 30 yrds that told me something else was out of whack. After that adjustment I did a walk back with field points and they were trending right.

Spyder 30. My pro shop just took out some cam lean and corrected timing.

Set the center shot at 13/16 and use the yokes to correct BH/FP impact difference.

I'm lucky, took my 2 bows out yesterday to sight in at distance and try broad heads. Got them both set for field points to 60yds then tried broadheads and they were right with the field points. Viper tricks with the Matthews and slick trick magnums, shuttle ts, and even Magnus stinger with the elite bow.

My practice sessions keep getting cut short, but with some rest tuning I got both points on target out to 30. At about 35 snd definately 40, my BH impact left at an increasing rate with increased distance. Does this tell anyone anything?

I would stick with your original plan since you are getting close to hunting. If your BH’s group who cares if they match your FP’s, just re sight in A week before hunting and go kill something.
