I finally got everything in and assembled tonight for a build I’m really excited about. Attached below is the build sheet. Shooting it tomorrow to see what we get out of some factory loads. I think this is going to be the perfect “lightweight” rifle for sub 750yd deer hunting.

Defiance Anti-X Medium (23.11oz)
Preferred Barrel Blanks 16” Carbon Barrel chambered in 6.5 Manbun (33.40oz)
MDT HNT 26 w/ Folder + ARCA (28oz)
Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x56mm (23.75oz with Alumicaps)
30mm Hawkins Ultralight Rings (3.95oz)
Triggertech Diamond 2 Stage set at 17.6oz (2.5oz)
MDT 5rd Mag w/o Binder (4.855)
TBAC 338 ULTRA w/ area 419 Hellfire Adapter (18.76oz) *yes it’s ridiculously huge and heavy for this application but my lord is it quiet*
Area 419 Hellfire Adapter (2.0oz)

Total Weight: 140.33oz or 8.65lbs

That’s pretty dang good for having a suppressor and modern dialing scope. Most of my rifles with a robust scope come in at 10lbs or more without a suppressor.

Looks like a sweet build. Maybe it's not ultralight but the man has good taste! I have a sub 7lb rifle and it is dang hard to shoot. Next one will be just north of 8lbs.

He lost me at 1.5 lb suppressor and 56mm objective scope.

These are valid points. “Ultralight for the features” would be better stated. 😂 it’ll be under 8 with the suppressor when I get my Raptor 8 one of these months. No it isn’t a sub 6lb gun, but it sure handles a lot better than one. Plus with the folder it packs away to nothing.

Lol the manbun is quiet and had no recoil with any suppressor, let alone an 11” 1.5lb suppressor. Get an ultra 5 or Dominus, a 44mm objective and you’ll be onto something.
A smaller suppressor is in the works, working with what I have for now! 😂 and I’m a sucker for big objectives or I’d have thrown something smaller on.

Shot this using factory Hornady Match 140gr ELDM this afternoon at 2554fps. Custom 147s and gonna be at 1800fps+ at 800yds, so exactly what I was hoping for.
Something isn’t right. The 147 will be going slower, call it 2520. Unless you’re way up high you’ll be closer to 600-625 yards. I shoot a 147 at 2750 and get 1800 at 800 yards.

Factory loads vs Custom 147s, I’ll be able to push them quite a bit harder with lapua brass and more powder seated to 2.950”, in reality though anything north of 650 and I’ll be happy with this build. Spinning up a 20” 7mm PRC for shots to 1k, then the long throated 300 RUM is good to 1250 with my loads even at 1500’ elevation. Thanks for the input!

Better not miss. Your going to be beating your bolt open with a log in the field. That’s beyond smokin from a 16” creedmoor.

Nothing lightweight or ultralight about it

True, but this is a hell of a lot of capability in what I'd call a "compact" platform. Would be well within "lightweight" and "ultra compact" territory without the can.

Super cool concept, OP. I might put something like this together at some point in the future.

It’s a ranch truck and saddle gun when on the horse when I’m not hunting in the mountains, so the versatility is going to be unbeatable I think.
