Hey guys,

Happy to find this site that will help feed my dreams.

I live and work in Texas but I have pretty extensive experience hunting all over the world. I've been fortunate to hunt in 8 different states, Scotland, Sweden, South Africa, and Argentina. Through those travels Ive hunted elk, red stag, moose, and all manner of plains game.

I'm also a competitive shooter. I grew up shooting skeet and sporting clays competitively. Today I shoot USPSA, 3-gun and precision rifle matches on a semi-regular basis - real life made me retire.

Last year I was extremely lucky to draw a Moose tag in Utah. It was an amazing, and exhausting, week. I ignored all the advice I heard; namely to shoot the first bull I saw closest to the road. I skipped this guy:

And then packed this guy down the mountain after one of the most intense hunts I've experienced:

Anyhow, happy to have found a bastion of like-minded people; definitely looking to getting into more backpack hunting and pursuing some game in the mountains over the next few years. I've been putting in for tags for years.

Shoot straight.

I did a deal with you on Arfcom about 10 years ago here in D/FW. My handle on that site is IYAOYAS467.
Anyways, welcome and enjoy the time here. There are ALOT of knowledgeable folks here and everyone I've come across is damn friendly.

Welcome. Hope up learn a few things from all your experience. Great bull that is a demanding hunt and one of the hardest tags to draw in Utah glad you made the most of it.

Thanks for the welcome - I hope my experience can help someone and I'm sure I'll glean lots from the experience of those of you on this board. Real hardcore backpack hunting is something I want to do and to learn about.

That moose was a lucky thing every which way you look at it. I'm incredibly lucky to have pulled the tag and was lucky to run into him. I'm hooked on moose after that experience.
