Longtime lurker, first-time poster—figured it was finally time to crawl out of the brush and say aloha.

I hunted a bit in my younger years, took a long break, and somehow found my way back into the addiction. These days I’m mostly chasing Axis, pigs, and the occasional goat on Maui. Still learning, still messing things up, still loving every minute of it—especially the stories that come after a good hunt (and sometimes the ones after a bad one).

I really appreciate forums like this. The amount of knowledge, experience, and brutally honest advice on here is hard to beat, and it’s been a huge help getting back up to speed.

Gear-wise, I just wrapped up a 7PRC build and am currently down the rabbit hole on a Tikka build with a Manners stock—because apparently “one rifle is enough” is a lie we all tell ourselves.

Looking forward to learning, contributing where I can, and swapping some hunt stories along the way. 🤙

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new HI member.

Howzit! Never hunt Kauai before, choke action?

Pigs everywhere. Goats in certain areas. Blacktails can be hard to come by, nothing like the axis on Maui. They are pretty solitary. Only reason why more are getting taken nowadays is the State has opened up several Units to year round hunting. We go to Lana’i every year for Axis and Mouflon.

Right on. Knew there’s black tails here but I’ve never seen one, confirming what you said. Hope you going soon to Lana’i, good fun.
