Does anyone here have any experience with FN rifles? I saw one the other day and they look nice. The stock is super comfortable and has a lot of grip. Do they shoot good?

Thanks

If you are looking at a new CRF bolt it is a model 70 . FN owns BARCO and makes Winchester and Browning. I have heard that FN branded weapons are held to higher specifications than their other brands. At New Haven they had a separate line making FN police rifles.

The one I saw was a military/police model. Looked pretty cool. It was either the SPR or the TSR. Didn't have the fluted barrel so I assume it was the SPR.

The only draw back was it seemed to have a short barrel. Super smooth action.

I have been looking for a good all around gun that can reach out there, but light enough for backcountry hunts and for my wife to carry.

These seem cool, but want some feedback from someone with personal experience before I shell out any money.

For what its worth I owned an FN SPR a couple years ago. It was a well built rifle, fit and finish were definitely above the price point that I paid (approx. $1500). From the factory it had a McMillan A4 stock with adjustable Kydex cheekpiece, Near 20moa scope base, and factory DBM (which is actually pretty good) and the trigger was nice and crisp, factory barrel was 24" which is plenty for a .308 win.

The downside, and the reason I eventually traded the rifle away was that it was close to13 lbs, you can get a fluted barrel version but it doesn't shed that much weight. When I mounted my Leupy Mark 4 6.5-20 the rifle was approaching 15 lbs with ammo. I carried it around in an eberlestock backpack but unless I was shooting stationary for long periods the rifle was just too heavy for my applications.

In my opinion the SPR would not be a good choice for a backcountry rifle or one used for backpack hunting situations. Just my two cents!
