Anyone know of either a 4x56 or 6x56 optic mil dot or mil dash type scope exist? I'm muzzle loader hunting today with open sights and thoughts are floating through my head on what the perfect optic would be for this ML. 4x56 would be probably as perfect as it gets for this but I don't think it exist. I know swfa has a 6x42 but having a x50 or x56 would be amazing for first light morning and last light evenings

The exit pupil on a 4x56, 5x56, or 6x56 would be larger than the dilated pupil of any human. So the extra light would just be wasted, as it wouldn't enter the iris and into the retina.

The classic low light scopes have been something like a 8x56, which has a 7mm exit pupil. Even then, 7mm is more than some can use due to age or individual differences.

Anything above 7mm exit pupil is wasted. So even a 30mm LPVO gets you as much light at 4x as a 56mm scope. A variable 56 would allow you to zoom in and out to maximize the light available tho.

This is the most scientific answer I’ve heard in a long time.
