First time cross bow hunter

I got lucky and drew a second season NM archery bull tag, bad thing is I am going in for elbow surgery 9/2, doc thinks I will be able to shoot a crossbow in 2 weeks for my hunt.

So that being said, I have about the same amount of experience with a crossbow as I do with salsa dancing.

Any tips or pointers?

(Nm fish and game gave me a permit, so I'm all good to use one)

Same as a bow, make sure you shoot your broadheads and verify they fly like you expect. Have a strategy for how you're going to make the crossbow safe at the end of the day when you're done hunting. Don't miss, reloading those things under pressure for a follow up sucks.

Based on my buddy's experience elk hunting with a crossbow I would suggest getting a good comfortable sling.
