If that’s okay with you awsome. Enjoy your can. I have cans similar. Any can is better than no can.

I outlined what I would purchase looking back based on experience with different kinds of suppressors.

I bought a Tacoma too, I don’t need the best of anything.
I may be speaking out of turn here but I believe he was responding to the other guy.

Here's some data I put together when I was shopping last month. I ended up going with a Nomad Ti.

The ultra 5 absolutely does not blow the nomad Ti out of the water. Lol.
That's a bold statement. From all the data I've seen apples to apples the Nomad has better suppression. Especially being 1.5x5" vs 1.73x6.5".
I have an ultra 5 gen 2 and even I'll say it doesn't blow the others mentioned out of the water. It's definitely a very specific user type can. Ultra light / compact for someone who is extremely weight conscious and doesn't necessarily need the most sound suppression. Definitely does not blow anything out of the water, except in the weight/length category. And as Harvey said, not apples to apples

Finally read through this. Man, people are passionate about suppressor brands! I'll give my opinion. I own 4 in total. Tbac, sico, gemtech. What i tend to recommend to most is the sico omega as being the closest to a "do-all" type can. It's not terribly light, but not terribly heavy. Can be made down to 13 ish oz and is full auto rated so you can put it on your gas gun and go to town.

As for hunting specific cans, I've been around a few. I think I'd agree with an above comment of being around 10 ish ounces and 7" ish. Much less, and you get to be kinda disappointed in the suppression. As a general rule of thumb, more volume = more quiet. My 5" tbac is awesome for hunting, but I wouldn't recommend it as a first can because i think the person would be disappointed in the suppression. I tend to think most all brands are putting out good cans right now. Can't say any of them offer up something significantly better. Do some research and pick your poison. You'll be happy with just about any of the top brands lighter cans.

Tbac 7
Tbac dominus
Si co harvester evo
Cgs Hyperion k
Dead air nomad ti
Kgm r30K

Would be some of my choices, in no particular order.

Don't buy one that works for everything. That's like buying a Leatherman when you need a torx head ratcheting screw driver. Can it get the job done? Yes. But it won't do it well.

Check out Rex sillemtium. Wait for them to go on sale and pick up two really good cans for the price of one expensive one. I've seen them for as low as $350 for a k size can before.

BLUF: I'm looking for a sub 9 oz can for backcountry hunting.

Questions for the TBAC owners/users:

1. Do the Ultra 5/7 Gen 2 have interchangeable mounting options (user changeable)?

I've got muzzles threaded at 1/2-28, 9/16-24, and 5/8-24; I prefer DT

2. What is the Dominus HUB mount all about?

I can't answer question 2. But, as far as interchangeable mounting options, I believe if you went DT, the mount can't be taken out unless sent back to tbac. If you go CB, you could buy multiple CB mounts and change them out for each gun, or leave them on the gun. Might be a pain to switch them out constantly.. Or you can go CB, sell the CB mount, and do the area 419 system.

I prefer the area 419 system. Both my ultra 5 and omega have their mount. All the guns I use the suppressors have the adapter on the muzzle and I can swap between cans or brake quickly whether they are 5/8-24 or 1/2-28. Basically converts all your guns to a left hand, universal for your suppressor thread.

I wasn't aware of the Area 419 system...seems pretty slick!

I already have an Omega; really want specialized can for 22CM - 6.5CM. I can use the Omega for my 300 WSM.

If I understand the Area 419 universal adapter correctly, I could put that onto my 1/2-28 threads on skinny 300 WSM barrel, and that would actually strengthen that area with the can installed? Right now I'm running the 1/2-28 Bravo DT mount for that rifle.

I really like it. Yes, you can get a universal adapter for just about any thread and put one on each of your guns. Makes it easy to swap them all around without having to switch out mounting adapters. I can't speak it strengthening the area, but I can say it seems very repeatable. I don't worry about my zero shifting when I move cans around from gun to gun. They make a suppressor mount for the omega as well.

It is a fairly expensive set up, but if you have multiple guns with different threads and multiple suppressors, it is worth it versus having to switch out adapters constantly. If your guns all had the same threads, i would say just stick with DT.

I believe the hub on tbac makes it align more with industry std threads and allows to use other DT and mounting options. Would be way to go IMO if you want modularity with other guns and adapters.

I see the GA Precision Jäger suppressor is discounted 25% right now…looks like it is no longer reflex style

Has anyone directly compared it with TBAC Ultra 5?
