One of my sons 10yrs and daughter 13yrs both drew pronghorn tags for New Mexico this year. No one in our family has ever hunted pronghorn so this was a first for us. It was a 3 day season that started on Saturday and ends today at dark. They had tags for the same season but in different units although they were adjacent units. I was a little worried 3 days two young hunters and two units with only about 20% public we might not be able to get it done. Daughter’s buck was quartered and on ice by 8:30 Saturday morning and Sons buck was on ice by 3:30 Saturday afternoon. We were packed up and on the road home by 6:00. We had an absolute blast with this hunt. My first hunt ever for pronghorn, however IMO absolutely perfect hunt for youth or someone just getting started in western hunting. Both were killed spot and stalk. My daughters buck was killed at just over 200 yards and scored 68” Sons buck was killed at just over 400 yards and we used the Big Red Moo Cow decoy to close some distance. His buck scored 68 7/8”. Not monster pronghorn but they where both very proud and a great experience for all of us.
