I’ve had a tent and stove for a while but had not used them in the backcountry yet. We hiked in the day before season started.

It began raining in the afternoon and continued on all night. Snow started right at daylight and continued on for the most of two days. By the time we pulled camp on the second day of season, we had about 8” at camp.

All I can say is, I’m sold on this way of hunting. We walked 45 minutes to our elk hunting area from camp. That allowed us to be in the prime areas at first and last light without killing ourselves. The tent allowed us to dry everything out each night. It was a wet snow, and our guns would have been frozen up after the first morning without the stove.

We killed a couple of elk, too. I’ll be hunting like this more often.

What brand of tent and stove did you use? I borrowed a buddies of mine this past weekend and feel in love. And now I'm in the market for one.

And congrats on the Elk.
