I won't make this a long drawn out story but just wanted to say thanks to all the members here for the great info, stories, tips, etc. This was my 3rd season hunting elk (2 times CO 1st rifle, 1st time NM archery) and on my 6th day of hunting after calling to numerous bulls and missing a bull, I had a 5x5 come in and offer I slight quartering to shot at 25 yards. I drilled him right behind the shoulder and found him piled up 400 yards later. It was a tough but extremely enjoyable hunt that I'll never forget and I'm thankful for the opportunity and health I'm afforded to partake in the activity I love the most which is American hunting. I'm reminiscing of the hunt now as I grill some elk steaks on the traeger under a warm starry night sky. I hope someone reads this and gets out there and has the hunt of their dreams.
